Ben Parsons was born in 1986 and grew up in Whitstable. He studied fine art at UCCA Canterbury which was were he was first introduced to printmaking upon leaving college he furthered his skills in relief printing taking to Engraving and the bold contrasts between the Black oil based ink and the white of the paper.

Travelling the Length of East Africa greatly influenced his work and he produced many drawings on the everyday hardships of the people as well as the warm welcome he received on his travels. On returning he carves blocks based on his adventure and hand prints editions of his latest work

Ben has always worked in Black and white seeking harmony between wide areas of white and the thin lines of a graver. The act of carving and the subtleties and discipline involved of hand burnishing each work appeal to him. Although it is with a pencil that all work derives from in which heart and sole can be captured with simple marks from the most basic of artists tools.
